well here are our rebuttal on the seven reasons:

--really? well debate does not reveal every existing point. It is impossible to achieve. The most that you can get from debate are arguments and questions that makes us unsatisfied. So it does not reveal every existing point. :)
*To challenge ourselves in giving justice to the points that we have stated.*
--Well in a debate, it's either we deliver or we don't. If you lose a debate, it means that you did not challenge yourself enough to deliver the points that you have stated. :)
*To be able to risk claiming our emotions and expressing our thought.*
--Hahaha. :) not everyone are made to be good in expressing their thoughts and emotions. Lets think of the shy people, what about them? Even though in their mind they know they can do it, but if it is their turn already. Bang!!! They forget everything or just even open their mouth and say something they cannot.
*It serves as a tool to develop solutions to do existing issue.*
--Solutions? Did I heard it right?! For your information in a debate, there is no definite solution in a given issue. If you won, well of course you would think that you have solved it. Hmmm.. what about losing the debate?? Think!!! :]
*It allows our voices to be heard thus enhancing our confidence.*
--It enhances our confidence, maybe it is. What about you did not deliver your points very well or what if you are the kind of person who is too sensitive?? Who easily get hurt?? Losing a debate can make a person lose his confidence. It causes depression.
*Dominate the idea of others*
--Well we can dominate the idea of others. It also depends with the points you raised from the points of the opposing team. But, it not as easy to say that debate is merely to dominate the idea of others.
*To discuss the important social issues*
--Yes I would agree that "debate is to discuss the important social issues." What if the topic is all about Paris Hilton?? So it means that type of debate is not important anymore?! :p
